For an active holiday, Saint Lucia ticks all the right boxes. There’s great golf, horse riding and, as you would expect on a tropical island, excellent watersports, including diving. There are also some activities you may not expect to find. Travelguru Catherine Leech goes off in search of action and adventure, exploring both the coast and lush, tropical interior.

A zip wire adventure through the rainforest at the Treetop Adventure Park sets the tone for the action. Then its on to Jungle Biking through 12 miles of trails in the grounds of one of Saint Lucia’s first colonial plantations, Anse Mamin – custom trails can accommodate both complete beginners as well as advanced riders. For golfers there’s the Saint Lucia Golf Resort and Country Club, an undulating 18 hole par-71 course. If you like your action non-stop, an all inclusive resort like The BodyHoliday Le Sport might just be the answer – a luxury beachside resort with a seemingly endless list of included watersports, activities and spa treatments on offer. Last but not least, the diving and snorkelling is fantastic too, especially in the Soufriere area, with crystal clear visibility.
