Probably the most beautiful river in France, the Dordogne winds majestically through a magnificent tableau of medieval hill villages, craggy hillsides, vineyards and characterful towns. This 6 day tour, travelling by Eurostar and TGV trains, takes you to some of the highlights of this delightful region, including Sarlat, Rocamadour, Beynac, St Emilion, the replica Lascaux prehistoric caves and much more.

Itinerary details

Day 1

Travel by Eurostar from St Pancras or Ebbsfleet to Paris and onwards to Souillac by TGV. On arrival, transfer by coach under tour manager's direction to Les Eyzies for check in for 5-night stay. Welcome dinner.

Day 2

Full day introduction to the Dordogne Valley including Beynac and La Roque-Gageac.

DAY 3

The theme today is prehistoric man. From Montignac, visit Lascaux II, Rouffignac and Les Eyzies.

DAY 4

A full day tour to Bergerac, Perigueux and Monbazillac on market day.

DAY 5

A full day tour to Sarlat and Rocamadour. Farewell dinner

DAY 6

Transfer to Brive for return  TGV train to Paris and Eurostar back to Ebbsfleet/St Pancras.

Situated in the heart of the Perigord Noir, this 3* family owned, friendly hotel is ideal location from which to explore the Dordogne. Meals on the first and last nights are taken at a local restaurant with the remaining nights free for personal exploration.

Notes

As with most trains, passengers are responsible for carrying luggage onto and off the train. Luggage can be stored on overhead shelves or at the entrance to the carriages. Trolleys are available at St Pancras, but bags do need to be carried onto the platform.
