The MS Quest was built in Denmark in 1992. With an ice class 1A1 rating she has an icebreaking capability of up to 70 cm. In 2008 she was completely refurbished and has now begun a career as a small and friendly expedition ship.
As you’d expect from a vessel designed and built in Denmark, she’s comfortably furnished and fully up-to-date with all the latest communication and safety equipment.
She is also a very eco friendly ship - minimising the environmental impact in sensitive ecosystems is a passion for the Quest team and every effort is made to minimise the carbon footprint both on board and ashore. With a small number of passengers on board, people get to know each other easily and the atmosphere is very friendly and inclusive. The experience and perspective is entirely different to that of a larger vessel. In addition to the expedition team, the cabin and restaurant staff are generally Eastern European and Filipino and take great pride in not only maintaining the highest standards but also making sure everyone feels very much at home.
The Quest carries a maximum of 52 passengers, accommodated in 26 cabins, all with sea-view and private facilities. Cabins are located on two decks and are priced according to size and location. All have outside views, individually controlled heating and air-conditioning, private shower and toilet. They are well designed with typical Scandinavian light woods and pastel colours. The superior grade cabins on decks three and four are more spacious and have a seating area. The owner’s cabin on deck four is larger still, with two large picture windows and the prime location.
The attractive restaurant is on the lower deck and serves all passengers in a single sitting with a mix of either buffet or table service. The Expedition team and passengers all dine together and, weather permitting, occasional barbecues will be set up on deck.
The Panorama lounge located on the top deck is the main meeting place. Surrounded by glass, here you can enjoy uninterrupted views of the passing scenery. There’s also a well-stocked bar and a small library
Informal talks and briefings given by the expedition team are held in the lounge. They also lead the expeditions ashore, helping you identify all you see and add to your knowledge of the wildlife, flora and environment.
The Bridge is also open to passengers and the Scandinavian officers will provide charts and sailing information for all those interested in the vessel’s navigation and operation. The Quest has a fleet of Zodiacs which passengers can easily access by means of a hydraulic tender entrance.
The Quest’s cruising calendar takes her to the shores of Scotland in Spring and Autumn and to Iceland and the Arctic in summer.
