David Wickers

As Chief Travel Correspondent of the Sunday Times (1988 – 2003), David has been voted Travel Writer of the Year three times. He has travelled extensively in more than 100 countries, written a number of travel guide books and is currently Travel Editor of Good Housekeeping as well as a busy freelance travel journalist contributing to the Sunday Times , Sunday Times Travel Magazine and many other national newspapers.

 

John Carter

John Carter

A freelance travel journalist and presenter for many years, John was one of the founders and original reporters of the BBC’s Holiday programme when it was launched in 1969 and later co presented Thames Television’s Wish You Were Here…? . Since then he has made many contributions to BBC radio and national newspapers and is widely acknowledged as one of travel’s most experienced and respected commentators.  

 

 

Paul Gogarty

Paul Gogarty

Paul has won a raft of awards for his travel journalism, travel books and TV presenting over the past 20 years. For most of the ‘90s he was Chief Travel Writer for the Daily and Sunday Telegraph and was also a presenter on BBC Holiday . He has been travel editor on magazines from Woman & Home to Cosmopolitan and his most recent television series was the 11-part Coastal Inspirations , which won the prestigious UK Guild of Travel Writers Best Travel Show award.  

 

Kathy Arnold

Kathy Arnold

Award-winning American journalist, Kathy Arnold is our guru for North America, where her specialist regions include New England, Florida and Canada. A regular contributor to national newspapers and travel magazines, Kathy also enjoys writing about Europe and the UK, food, wine and small hotels. As well as co-authoring and editing a dozen guide books, she started her career as a broadcaster with the BBC. Long a resident of London, Kathy regularly recharges her batteries in North America.

As travel editor of Cosmopolitan, Cosmopolitan Bride and You & Your Wedding magazines, Amanda is our highly qualified 'Weddings & Honeymoons" guru. She has enjoyed a successful career as a travel writer and photographer for magazines, newspapers, trade press and travel related books. She also freelances for a wide range of titles inclding Caribbean World, Wedding Venues & Services and The Wedding Planner. Her travels have taken her all round the world from hip European cities to the wilds of the Galapagos and the islands of the Indian Ocean.

 

 

Cathy Bartrop

Cathy Bartrop

Cathy has a wealth of travel knowledge and experience having worked in the industry for over 25 years in both tour operating and media. Inspired by her travel writer father to embark on a career in the travel industry, she worked at Saga Holidays, Thomas Cook Faraway Holidays and Ocean Cruise Lines before setting up her own successful travel marketing and video production business in 1989. Since then her varied and numerous assignments have taken her all over the world. Cathy is the founder of travelguru.tv. 

Catherine Leech

Catherine Leech

Our Caribbean guru. Catherine's love affair with the Caribbean began in 1986, when she spent six months living in Nevis. Since then, she has worked and played throughout the region. She was European Manager of the Cayman Islands Department of Tourism and Chairman of the UK Caribbean Tourism Organisation before landing her dream job as Managing Director of the award-winning specialist tour operator, Caribtours. She left in 2005 to volunteer in post-Tsunami Sri Lanka - initially a short term plan that turned into a two year life changing experience. Since returning to the UK Catherine has settled in rural Dorset and is pursuing new travel interests.

Peter Nunn

Peter has worked in travel for most of his life, including as a taxi driver in Sydney, a film extra in Hollywood and a holiday rep in Ibiza! As a travel journalist, he spent over ten years on Radio 5Live before moving on to TV with BBC News 24, Working Lunch and Fast Track on BBC World TV. He's won several awards for Television and Radio, but his proudest moment was beating Adrian Childs in a New York Marathon!
